Review from a student who took ASL 506/507
Gene is an awesome teacher. He's currently a grad student here at UT and teaches a couple of ASL courses each semester. I had him for ASL 506 and I'm currently in 507. I'll be taking ASL 312K with him, too. He's extremely charismatic and isn't a stickler when it comes to turning things in late (his primary goal is to teach you sign language - not to screw you over grade-wise). If you put some effort into the class, you'll make an A. If you only put a little effort, you'll probably make a B. I think the only people that make lower grades are the ones that completely stop coming to class.
Review from a student who took ASL 506, ASL 507
Love Gene! He is the youngest/most easy going professor for ASL. His classes aren't very organized, but he is VERY lenient with things like turning in work on time and arriving to class on time. If you try hard and participate in tutorials offered by SADA (Students Advocating Deaf Awareness) you'll do wonderfully in the class! With work you will get an A. A little work and skipping a B. Only the true slackers make below a B. I LOVE this class and plan on taking ASL 312K with him next semester. HIGHLY recommended!
