Review from a student who took bio 416k
Gill...she is a good lecturer. She is somewhat funny and her tests, although pretty hard, are fair. If you know the material well, you should do fine. She gives you an objective sheet at the beginning of each section. As long as you take good notes and keep up on the reading, you should make at least a B. There is not a lot of homework, but sometimes the lab reports might take some time. I think that she is a good prof overall.

Gill is a pretty good lecturer. She almost left to go to the FBI, but for some reason she didn't. Her tests are kinda hard, but I think that's just because the class is very meticulous. She likes to make up chants and dances to help you retain information. She's kind of condescending when you go see her in her office hours. I felt kind of stupid with the way she answered my questions. She's not the greatest professor, but between her and Lagowski, she's awesome.

Dr. Gill is not a nice lady. There's no point of telling you to avoid her, b/c she's the only one teaching this class. For those who NEED to take 416k and 416L for nursing, PA, Physical Therapy...YOU need to REALLY REALLY study and live, breathe and THINK about this class 24/7 in order to make good grade or at least PASS it. I would recommnand you to read ahead every single night before class. B/c if you don't, it's pointless to go to class. She's very smart and goes very fast and also expect you to read the book ahead of time. Once again, goodluck to you and prepare yourself for this class. Many people w/ a perfect 4.0 GPA have suffered and were destroyed by Dr. GILL. Oh yeah, at some point you feel like changing ur major b/c of this class...DON'T!!!! And if you talk to her, she'll advice you to change your major, but again DON'T!! Study hard and don't expect too much but a C. (I'm not kidding)

What Gill brings to Bio 214: *takes off points for misspellings *tests are really REALLY hard. i've compared DaWaulder's test with Gill and Gill's are way harder. *you basically have to teach the material to yourself *if you do bad on the first test she'll know who you are by your grade and after that getting help won't be easy. *her personality is bland and if you 'steal' her answer key like how 'someone' did last semester, she'll send out a mass email threatening that her answer key be returned safely. If there's 3 things I have learned at UT it's: 1. Stay away from I35 during the hours of 5-7 Mon-Fri 2. Wear appropriate clothing for trekking around 40 acres 3. Gill is the WORST teacher ever. Avoid her like SARS
Review from a student who took BIO 214
I guess they had trouble finding enough 214 teachers, so they got her to teach it Spring 2002. If you are going to take her for BIO 214, I don't think it is a bad idea, but you must be totally willing to learn the material by yourself. The stuff that she lectures about, while interesting, isn't reliably the information on the test. You must read and study the book to do well. For example, I stopped going to class towards the end, because I realized that my notes were totally worthless for test preparation. I just read the book until I understood it all, and I was pretty prepared for the tests. On the other hand, I know someone who sat in the front row, never missed a class, and was constantly taking notes - and they didn't do very well in the class. I think that is unfair, and I believe that Gill should lecture on the topics that she is going to test on.
