Really nice teacher. Her tests were fairly easy, and so were the programming assignments. As the other reviewer said, she basically reads off her powerpoint slides.
Review from a student who took EE 322C
This was by far one of the worst professors that I had at UT. I took EE 322C (Data Structures) with her, and I could have learned more by simply looking up wikipedia than I did from going to her class. She teaches out of slides and she does absolutely no examples and no written code, which is a funny concept in a programming class. She stressed on rules of programming so much more than learning how to program or becoming a better programmer. Coming out of this class, I feel like I know a random trivial fact or two about every major topic of the class (graphs, trees, bst's, maps, hash tables, etc). I could probably tell you how they work in very basic theory, but can't code anything about them. 7 programs were assigned which were usually pretty ridiculous and not related to the topic being discussed in class. Worst professor I've had the misfortune of taking a class with, you be sure not to make the same mistake as I did. Don't get misled by those grade distributions; those are for an upper division CS class, but in this class, she was horrible.
Review from a student who took ee 322c
She was nice, and the tests werent too bad. She just reads off the powerpoint slides. I enjoyed the class, was an easy A. My main complaint was she focused alot on trivial things such as syntax and other random stuff that would be useful for CS majors, but not really EE. Anyways, I would recommend her.
Review from a student who took CS 373
Vicki is the most awesome professor ever! CS 373 is a tough course, but it is probably one of the most beneficial classes I have taken. You learn a lot about software in that class. Its cool, because at the beginning of the semester different people come in and offer REAL software projects to work on. Then your team (4 - 5) people "bid" on the projects they want. Your team then produces the software, along with some intense documentation along the way. I recommend the class to anyone who is serious about software as a career or who is just passionate about software processes. The professor is top class. Very entertaining, lots of guest speakers from very interesting companies and situations. Great class!
